Hey guys,

I just wanted to let everyone know that Duran's sister passed away a few days ago. The visitation is on wednesday, august 10th at 10am and the service is at noon at calvary baptist in latonia. I think it would be good for him to see alot of our class there. I know not everyone was very close to him, but I think the support would mean alot to him.
Just please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

So, my mom was having these horrible pains in her back. We thought that maybe she had a kidney stone or something, or maybe she had pulled a muscle, which would be bad since she already has cancer. She had a cat scan the other day and it showed tumors, tumors that had grown since her surgery. She had only one chemo left and we thought all of this was almost over, and when they tested her blood, her tumor cell count was where someone without cancer would be. It even blew the doctor away when he found out she had grown more tumors. No one expected it, and now we have to start from scratch all over again, like reliving the worst moment in your life.
If you could just keep her in your prayers or just keep her in your thoughts, I'd really appreciate it.

The Trojans

Our efforts are the efforts of the unfortunate;
our efforts are like those of the Trojans.
We succeed somewhat; we regain confidence
somewhat, and we start once more
to have courage and high hopes.

But something always happens and stops us.
Achilles in the trench emerges before us
and with loud cries dismays us.--

Our efforts are like those of the Trojans.
We think that with resolution and daring,
we will alter the downdrag of destiny,
and we stand outside ready for battle.

But when the great crissis comes,
our daring and resolution vanish;
our soul is agitated, paralyzed;
and we run around the walls
seeking to save ourselves in flight.

However, our fall is certain. Above,
on the walls, the dirge has already begun.
The memories and feelings of our own days weep.
Priam and Hecuba weep bitterly for us.

This is by Cavafy, so I guess I can't dedicate it, but it just fits so damn well. Translated by Rae Dalven btw. Cavafy writes in Greek.

So, since Duran decided to update everyone on his life, it motivated me to do the same.

Most recent excitement is that my sister won tickets to meet the Transplants on wednesday. I don't really like them all that much, but the lead singer is Tim Armstrong, who is also the lead singer of Rancid, who i worship like gods, so I'm excited.

But in general i've just been working in the bio dept at school doing way more than I'm getting paid for, but at least it's money. I'm gonna try to get a job at that Border's opening up near TMC, so hopeflly I'll get that. And I'm making a habit of going up to Sitwell's in Clifton every Friday from like noon to 2 or 3 to paint or read. If you don't know where that is, it's on Ludlow right next to the Esquire. So if you're ever really bored on a friday afternoon come visit me there; company is always nice. And if you bring me a cigarette or two i'll be extra nice to you ;)

P.S.-- just kidding about the cigarettes; i don't really smoke, but i might...

P.P.S--haha, someone said I looked like anne frank today as i walked passed them. i haven't heard that since like freshman year.

So yea, none of the stuff I said last time is true, I was bored and figured it might throw one or two of you for a loop. The truth is, I don't do coke, I never have and I never will. I did quit smoking pot. I don't own any real estate; although I did get a very nice apartment (two bed rooms/two baths) for a steal. Oh yea, I don't sell shrooms either, though it has crossed my mind. Vacation, HA. Nothing out of the country this year, I went to Chicago right after school let out, and I'm planning on going to Alaska near August. But I'll have you know that I am making an honest wage. 10 bucks an hour at Fed Ex with superb benefits, and wouldn't you know it, Mr Barczac hired me on down at CLS again this summer. he even gave me a dollar raise (to 7 now) to boot! All my bills are paid through December, so I just get to play with my earnings, which means I'm investing it all (well you know what I don't spend on cigars and steak).
As for the kegger I spoke of, I still plan on having that, it will probably fall on or around the Fourth of July. Call me to let me know if you're interested. I have a cell phone now (yes I stepped into the new millenium) and you can reach me at (859) 816-7446.
With Peace, Love, and Hotdogs,
Duran

Alright, JP and I decided to meet at the levee tomorrow night (Friday) at 6:15 at the Barnes and Noble. Then we're gonna go get tickets for the 7:45 showing of Star Wars, and then get some dinner b4hand. So anyone feel free to meet us at 6:15. If that doesn't work for ya, but you still wanna show up at 7:45 for the movie, my cell number is 859-803-3929. Give me a call, and let me know you are coming so we can meet up with you. Hope to see you all there! Peace
» Star Wars
Went to go see the Star Wars premere last night, and it was awesome!! I would highly suggest going to see it as soon as you possibly can. I loved it so much I'm pondering the idea of going to see it again this Friday or Saturday night down at the levee. People tell me what you think of getting a group together. Let me know what times are best for everyone, and I guess we'll make a decision on which night. Hope to see you all later. Peace.
